Program Coordinator – Traditional and Community Programs

Position Summary: 
The Program Coordinator at Sweetgrass Health Centre will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that integrate traditional healing practices with community-based health initiatives. This role is pivotal in strengthening the connection between community members and culturally relevant health services. The successful candidate will collaborate with local leaders, elders, health professionals, and community organizations to ensure that programs are respectful of traditional practices while meeting contemporary health needs.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and launch traditional and community health programs in alignment with the centre’s mission.  
  • Develop program frameworks, goals, and timelines that incorporate both traditional practices and modern health strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, indigenous leaders, local organizations, and stakeholders.  
  • Facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and outreach initiatives to gather input and ensure programs are culturally resonant.
  • Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.  
  • Oversee event planning, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring smooth execution and high participation.
  • Develop and implement evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness and community impact.  
  • Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and funding bodies, incorporating data-driven insights.
  • Ensure all programs adhere to traditional protocols and community values while meeting regulatory and health standards.  
  • Stay informed about best practices in indigenous health and community programming to continuously refine program delivery.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).  
  • Proven experience in program coordination, community outreach, or managing culturally sensitive projects.  
  • Strong understanding of traditional healing practices and indigenous cultural protocols.  
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.  
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.  
  • Experience with budgeting, program evaluation, and project management software.  
  • Familiarity with local community needs and indigenous health challenges is highly desirable.
